Sudasha Brata Osha (ସୁଦଶା ବ୍ରତ ଓଷା)

Sudasa Brata Osha (Odia: ସୁଦଶା ବ୍ରତ ଓଷା), is a festival of Maa Laxmi. Like Manabasa Gurubara, this festival is also observed on Thursday. But, for this festival, there is a certain rule in the calendar. This festival is celebrated on that Thursdays when it should be the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of moon) Dasami Tithi (the 10th day).

Goddess Laxmi is worshipped on this day by the married women. In the puja, 10 Manda Pithas are offered to Maa Laxmi. A ten layers of sacred thread is prepared with 10 nuts which symbolise the 10 names of Maa Laxmi. The ten name of Maa Laxmi are as follows:
  1. Laxmi Narayani (ଲକ୍ଷ୍ମୀ ନାରାୟଣୀ)
  2. Kamalini (କମଳିନୀ)
  3. Sri Harihara Priya (ଶ୍ରୀହରିହର ପ୍ରିୟା)
  4. Padmalaya (ପଦ୍ମାଳୟା)
  5. Kamala (କମଳା)
  6. Chanchala (ଚଞ୍ଚଳା)
  7. Bighnaseni (ବିଘ୍ନସେନୀ)
  8. Sindura Dullani (ସିନ୍ଧୁର ଦୁଲ୍ଲଣୀ)
  9. Durgati Nasini (ଦୁର୍ଗତି ନାଶିନୀ)
  10. Bishnu Patarani (ବିଷ୍ଣୁ ପାଟରାଣୀ)
After tieing the nuts, the thread is given a ritual bath with turmeric and water. And the Duba and Barakoli Patra are joined to the thread. After that, women tied that thread in their right arm and the thread changes in the next Sudasa Brata.
